Sox-wise and Otherwise…

My weekly offseason musings about the White Sox and more…

*  The Mark Teahen for Chris Getz/Josh Fields deal is official and Kenny Williams has cleared up the mystery of who will play where. It’ll be Teahen at third and Gordon Beckham moving to second. No doubt more moves are in the works.

*  Speaking of Jermaine, he was a top producer and always a class act in a Sox uniform. It was just time for the club to sever its ties. He’ll never be forgotten on the South Side and will be revered forever as a World Series MVP.

*  I was happy to see that Mark Kotsay is back in the Sox fold. He’s the kind of player that’s a real plus for a contending team and proved he was a leader from Day 1 on the South Side.

*  In the “life is not fair” department, Damaso Marte now has two World Series rings and Nick Swisher one. Between them, Ken Griffey Jr. and Jim Thome have none.

Jordan Danks update from the Arizona Fall League: In 18 games, he has hit .333, scored 20 runs, hit two homers, driven in 15, compiled a .450 on-base percentage and posted a .485 slugging percentage.

*  Today’s Yankee victory parade through the “Canyon of Heroes” in Manhattan officially ends the 2009 season for me–thank goodness. Now I can focus on something more important than the ’09 World Series, like what the Sox will do during the offseason.

*  Loyal Sox fan Seymour Berke is doing much better and will be leaving the hospital Monday, heading to rehab. Looking forward to being with him on Thanksgiving.
